The program trains professionals in critical, theoretical and historical aspects of the artistic phenomena of the past and present in the diverse cultural traditions, as well as with the parallel preservation processes, generation and legitimization of the Colombian and Latin-American artistic and cultural heritage. The history, historiography and aesthetics are the specific areas of training.
The program focuses on the historical analysis of artistic phenomena and historiographical considerations involved in this analysis. These phenomena are the result of the reciprocal relationship between the creative, discursive and political practices of art by which this analysis and consideration can not be reduced to the conceptual, formal, and/or technical problems related to creative practices. It is also required to consider the construction, circulation, legitimization and institutionalization of the political and discursive practices of art.
